When you step into a Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen restaurant, you are experiencing a higher end dining experience that originated in 1897 when H.D. Pappas immigrated to America from Greece. H.D. opened lots of restaurants in various states and cities across the country and eventually his sons Pete, and Jim took over. The first restaurant they established together was The Dot Coffee Shop in Houston which opened in 1967. Over time, Jim’s sons, Chris, Harris, and Greg joined the family business. After Jim’s death in 1982, the three sons set out to expand the business. One of the many restaurants that derived from that was Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. The Pappas brothers are the product of almost 125 years in the family restaurant business.

The brothers, Chris and Harris, running Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen as well as the other family restaurants serve as the executive team for the cafeteria chain, Luby’s as well.
The Pappas brothers were three rather than two. Greg died in a car accident in Houston in 1995 which was a blow to the family but also to the leadership team.
The company is focused on building and developing higher-end restaurants where they focus more on the quality and craftsmanship versus the number of locations across the country.

In Summary
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is what fine dining in America is all about. Who doesn’t love a restaurant that has in a sense been in the family for over 100 years? They are doing something right and I’m sure will continue to do so in time. They aren’t kid friendly at all, but again not all restaurants should be. There are just places we want to be able to go as adults. It’s good that some restaurants cater to families and children, but it is also right that some cater to us. I wish they were more transparent with their menu so to help those who are interested in nutrition or allergy details.
