They may have fought growing up as brothers will do, but as adults brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen were close. Brothers, firefighters, entrepreneurs and simply doing life together made them that way. After a few failed business ventures, they set out to open a restaurant. Initially, they were going to purchase an existing franchise (later a competitor) but instead decided to create their own, a decision that would change their lives. That decision came in 1992 and by 1994 they had their first store in Jacksonville, Florida. Firehouse Subs brings not only the brothers’ passion for being entrepreneurs but also their heart and support for their fireman brothers.

In Summary
Our family likes Firehouse for sure…sometimes. My kids love it, and it is one of their favorite restaurants. The sandwiches provide enough meat for my growing 12-year-old, they make a mean grill cheese for my very picky 7-year-old and the meatball sandwich wins over my 4-year-old every time not to mention the magical Coke machine that my kids flock to. As parents, we truly appreciate aids eat free night which helps our family budget. But, I also cringe sometimes sitting there watching my kids eat what I know to be very an unhealthy meal. A grilled cheese sandwich, a bag of Cheetos (don’t get me started) and anything coming from that magical Coke machine is hard to swallow as someone who cares about their health. Firehouse does a lot and more than most to attract families, but you should be concerned with the choices in most of their menu items. Before you go, do some homework on what you’re eating and make healthy decisions. It may be one of our kid’s favorites, but we only go sometimes.
